Military Information

The Career Center provides information on enlisting in all branches of the U.S. armed services, active duty and reserves in addition to the Federal and State National Guard. Also, in the College Brochures filing cabinets, there is information about the U.S. military academies for the Coast Guard, Air Force, Navy, and Army. Military Academies
The academies of the branches of the United States military offer another college option. All military academies require that applicants be American Citizens, at least 17 years old, and of good moral character. Appointments to the academies are by Congressional nomination and are competitive. All expenses including medical care are paid by the government and students receive additional compensation to cover uniforms, books and personal needs. There is a five year active duty obligation. The military academies to which students may apply are:

Careers in the Military

Military Scholarships
Several branches of the military offer scholarships for students who chose to participate in Reserve Officer Training programs:

Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) scholarships are offered at hundreds of colleges and universities across the nation. They are awarded on a competitive basis to entering freshmen.

Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) college scholarship program targets students pursuing technical degrees, such as certain engineering and science programs. AFROTC scholarships are awarded on the basis of individual merit, not financial need.

Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) program offers young men and women an opportunity to qualify for commissions in the Navy and Marine Corps while attending college. This four-year scholarship is available to recent high school graduates and is awarded annually on the basis of high school class standings, college entrance test scores, extracurricular activities, and leadership skills.
