Message from the Career Information Coordinator:
Welcome to Montgomery Blair's Career Center! Ms. Henderson Stein and I had the pleasure of working with many Blair students who were pursuing a variety of plans. We are looking forward to another busy year as we help students determine and finalize their post-secondary plans. One of our main goals is to facilitate the process of allowing students to begin to dream big about their futures and create goals to fulfill those dreams.

In addition to the usual resources that we offer, we have plans for some new and exciting programs as well. After school workshops on a variety of topics will be offered. The topics of those workshops will include:
Using Family Connection
Managing the College Search Process
The Resources in the Career Center
Bridges and Do What You Are Interest Profilers
Resume Writing
How to Search for Scholarships
Preparing to Complete the FAFSA
The College Visit
Interviewing for Jobs and Colleges
College Entrance Exams and Preparing for Them
Also, thanks to generous donations from former students and the community, the Career Center has a great number of resources on test preparation and selecting a college that is the right fit.

We are available for walk-in assistance every school day from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m., during lunch from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 2:10 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Otherwise, we are available to schedule appointments at other times. With the assistance of CollegeTracks parent volunteers, students can receive one-on-one and ongoing assistance with the college application and financial aid process. The hours to receive such advising are the same as the walk-in hours listed above.

Please be sure to register for a Family Connection account so that you receive the weekly Career Notes. The notes are chock full of information about upcoming college visits at Blair, open houses at colleges and universities, scholarships, internship and enrichment opportunities, job notices and test preparation.

Finally, it has been my observation that the students who took the initiative to visit the Career Center on a regular basis were the ones who benefited most. Please incorporate visits to the Career Center into your schedule.

We are looking forward to working with you and we hope you have a GREAT school year!
